A security guard could be seen struggling to close the door.As she went into the elevator, the protesters’ screaming became increasingly unintelligible, chaotic, and cacophonous.A procedural vote to confirm Kavanaugh went through 51-49, although it was not clear whether Collins or other senators who were undecided in supporting Kavanaugh would vote for the nomination. And by voting to invoke cloture, the floor debate on his confirmation will have a time limit, preventing Democrats to filibuster the final vote expected on Oct. 6.“Very proud of the U.S. Senate for voting ‘YES’ to advance the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh!” President Donald Trump tweeted. Trump also noted the throngs of protesters who accosted senators in the Capitol building.“The very rude elevator screamers are paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad. Don’t fall for it! Also, look at all of the professionally made identical signs. Paid for by Soros and others. These are not signs made in the basement from love! #Troublemakers,” Trump tweeted. He’s referring to billionaire investor George Soros, who has long been accused of supporting protesters and election interference. On Oct. 4, police in Washington D.C. escorted protesters from the Capitol building and in other public places in Washington D.C., placing plastic handcuffs on them. The video of protesters going after Sen.
