Tiger adjusts rosters for fatigued pilots

first_imgSource = e-Travel Blackboard: N.J Tiger Airways has re-rostered its pilots’ flight schedules after receiving complaints of being too tired from the crew.The carrier’s director of operations Captain Tim Berry told a Senate inquire into the airline’s safety late last week that up to 17 staff had filed a complaint since the beginning of last year, stating that their hours were causing fatigue.Captain Berry added that the carrier had last year put new rosters into place and said the carrier was keen to receive feedback from pilots over rostering and their health.Despite re-arranging staff, Captain Berry said that while Tiger was not working with a “world-class fatigue management system” that would notify the company on outside sleep disturbance, such as pilots that care for small children. “There are airlines that are much further down the track of fatigue management than we are,” he said.Captain Berry concluded that the carrier had complied with Australian fatigue management requirements. last_img
