This condition brought us to the solution of slightly elevating the property land and its garden relative to the street level, thereby protecting it from the flooding rains that this area is subject to.Save this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SGThe program of the ground floor is distributed under an exposed concrete portico with a 17.5-meter span. Under it, one single opaque volume holds the kitchen, the pantry, the toilet and the stairway hall giving access to the upper as well as the lower floors. The internal social areas, the living and dining rooms, are enclosed by two sliding glass doors that can be completely recessed into the walls, transforming the living room into an immense terrace that connects with the front and back gardens of the house. Through this transparency, the material identity between the concrete and the stone walls that define the limits between the front and back of the plot become perfectly clear: the external walls made of horizontal strips of brute stone reverberate with the alignment of the printed wooden boards (from the mould) on the concrete surface.Save this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SGThe large spam achieved by the portico was made viable through a mixed structure of steel and concrete. As some of this structure is hidden by the wooden box that marks the upper floor, the apparent width of this slab is similar to the side walls, offering an incredible lightness to this structure.Save this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SGThe lower floor includes a garage, service areas, a wine cellar a workshop and a gym that has windows looking out to the side of the pool, suggesting a relation between the active and leisure uses of the home.Save this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SGSave this picture!First Floor PlanSave this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SGThe rooms and their annexes on the first floor are uniformly protected by wooden panels, present on all the volume façades; in this way the different uses (bedrooms, offices, bathrooms and closets) are all safeguarded by one façade treatment. The verticality of the thin wooden strips offers a counterpoint to the horizontal marks of the exposed concrete. The second floor is a small receding volume, that sits atop the terraced garden covering the house. There, on its highest point, one can see the scenery of the floodplains surrounding Pinheiros River.Save this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SGProject gallerySee allShow lessCall for Submissions: QA-rant-NCall for SubmissionsBuilding in Rua de São Marçal / SIA arquitecturaSelected Projects Share Brazil Housescenter_img Year:  “COPY” Save this picture!© Fernando Guerra | FG+SG+ 38Curated by Matheus Pereira Share ArchDaily CopyHouses•Brazil Photographs Area:  940 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/934789/3v-house-studio-mk27 Clipboard 3V House / Studio MK27Save this projectSave3V House / Studio MK27 CopyAbout this officeStudio MK27OfficeFollowProductConcrete#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesGardensResidential ArchitectureBrazilPublished on April 23, 2020Cite: “3V House / Studio MK27” [Casa 3V / Studio MK27 – Marcio Kogan + Beatriz Meyer + Carolina Castroviejo] 23 Apr 2020. Ellspermann travels to Tochigi Prefecture, Indiana’s Sister State

first_img By Gary Truitt – Jun 18, 2014 SHARE Ellspermann visits dairy farm in Tochigi Japan.Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann spent the second day of her agricultural trade mission visiting Indiana’s Sister State, Tochigi Prefecture. Indiana and Tochigi established a Sister State relationship in 1999. Since then, representatives of the two states have had many exchanges and visits.   Ellspermann and her delegation traveled from Tokyo to Tochigi Prefecture on the high-speed rail system commonly known as the “Bullet Train”. Upon arrival, the entire delegation was greeted at the Tochigi Prefecture International Affairs Division and was then transported to JET Farm in Ichikai, Tochigi. At JET Farm, Lt. Governor Ellspermann met with Norio Shinoda – the owner of the dairy farm – who gave her and the entire delegation an extensive tour of his facilities. JET Farm is one of the largest dairy and beef farms in Japan. In 2012, JET Farm shipped over 21,000 tons of milk and over 2,000 beef cattle. After visiting JET Farm, Lt. Governor Ellspermann traveled to Utsunomiya, Tochigi where she met Tochigi governmental officials, including Governor Tomikazu Fukuda. In the meeting, they discussed how exciting it has been that Indiana and Tochigi have remained essential partners for 15 years, and how agriculture plays an important role for both Indiana and Tochigi. Both are recognized as agricultural leaders in their respective nations. Indiana is nationally ranked top 5 in duck production (1st), wooden office furniture (1st), tomato processing (2nd), chicken (3rd), soybeans (4th), corn (5th), and hogs (5th). Tochigi is Japan’s highest producer in strawberries and a national leader in milk, rice, and livestock production. Before the conclusion of the meeting, Governor Fukuda announced a potential major investment in Indiana by a Tochigi – based company. In September 2013, Governor Pence and First Lady Karen Pence met with Governor Fukuda as part of their 2013 Japan visit. Ellspermann and her delegation will begin the second portion of the trade mission by traveling Thursday from Tokyo, Japan to Seoul, South Korea.   Facebook Twitter Previous articleEstate Taxes Now Ripe for RepealNext articleAmerican Drivers Can Save $0.61 Per Gallon by Choosing Renewable Fuels Gary Truitt Ellspermann travels to Tochigi Prefecture, Indiana’s Sister State Home Indiana Agriculture News Ellspermann travels to Tochigi Prefecture, Indiana’s Sister State Facebook Twitter SHARElast_img read more

Berbatov downs slumping Spurs

first_imgDimitar Berbatov came back to haunt his former club as Tottenham’s chances of Champions League qualification took a huge blow with a shock 1-0 defeat against Fulham. Press Association Andre Villas-Boas’ side have now lost three successive games for the first time under his stewardship and they sit four points above Arsenal having played one more game. Gylfi Sigurdsson found Gareth Bale from a corner, but luckily for Fulham Sascha Riether cleared the forward’s goal-bound header off the line and the only other event of note in the first period was that Bale needed treatment on an ankle injury after being clipped by Giorgos Karagounis. Tottenham had much more energy about them in the second half and Bale drew Mark Schwarzer in to his first save of the game. Fulham then stunned the home crowd by taking the lead through Berbatov. The Bulgarian lost his marker to meet Ashkan Dejagah’s cross and bundle the ball past Lloris. Brede Hangeland almost doubled Fulham’s lead moments later when he met Karagounis’ corner at the back post, but his effort flew just wide. Jermain Defoe almost levelled after his introduction as a substitute, firing a low shot which Schwarzer saved well after some good work by Steven Caulker down the right. Schwarzer pulled off a brilliant save to deny Defoe in the final minute and Fulham held on in the four minutes of added time as Spurs left the field to a loud chorus of boos from their support. center_img Having scored three goals in his last four matches, Berbatov was always going to be Fulham’s main goal threat, but even he could not have imagined how easy it would be to score his first goal at White Hart Lane since leaving Spurs in 2008. The Bulgarian, who scored 46 goals in two seasons at Tottenham, easily spun off his marker and his mis-timed shot flew past Hugo Lloris to give the Cottagers their first win at White Hart Lane in 10 years. last_img read more

House rules at Limerick

first_img Condon said: “He wants better ground and I’d say he’ll run on the Flat over the summer. He jumped well and the better the ground the better he’ll be. The ground is tacky out there, and he’d not be in love with it. “He jumped great and gave me a good ride the whole way round. He won without me having to get serious with him. Gordon is able to find these races for his horses. He’ll be a good horse for the summer.” The Mad Well showed good determination to claim the spoils in the Book Online At www.limerickraces.ie Handicap Hurdle. The 3-1 chance was joined in the lead by Tiger Bay Lady at the penultimate flight, but stuck his neck out to prevail by five and a half lengths, going away. On paper, the Charleville Cheese Beginners Chase appeared a match between 5-4 joint-favourites Draycott Place and Lord Adare and that is how it proved as they approached the second-last travelling well and with half a length separating them. Draycott Place jumped the final couple of obstacles better, though, and Ryan Treacy drove him out for a three-length success. Moss Grove capitalised on a final-fence blunder by Its The Ice I Like (10-1) to take the Best Of Luck To Kilmallock GAA In The All Ireland Club Final Handicap Chase, while the Kevin Frost Memorial (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race went the way of the 9-10 market leader Ice Cold Soul. Chatham House Rule regained the winning thread in the Happy Mothers Day Hurdle at Limerick. In a performance reminiscent of the one that saw him beat subsequent Grade One winner Petite Parisienne at Punchestown two starts back, Gordon Elliott’s grey established a clear early lead over his opponents. The pack closed up approaching the home turn but Davy Condon had kept plenty of petrol in the tank on board the 9-10 favourite and although Tarabiyn tried to threaten, he could never get close enough to throw down a serious challenge and was two and a quarter lengths adrift at the line. center_img Press Associationlast_img read more

Juventus sign Genoa keeper Perin

first_imgTurin, June 9: Italian football champions Juventus have signed Italian goalkeeper Mattia Perin from Genoa FC for around $16 million on a four-year deal, embarking on a new era following the departure of legendary Gianluigi Buffon. Buffon held the No.1 shirt of Juventus since 2001 and left the club at the end of last May. Juventus moved quickly to fill in the vacated position with the signing of 25-year-old Italian international Perin, who on Friday underwent medical test before signing the contract which runs till June 2022. Ben Zobrist set to begin road to return as Cubs continue to struggle

first_imgTwo days after shoring up their lineup and bench at the trade deadline, more help is on the way for the Cubs. Ben Zobrist, who has been on the restricted list for nearly three months, will join the Cubs’ Single-A South Bend affiliate Friday as he begins his road back to the majors. Cardinals have ‘high level of frustration’ about quiet trade deadline, president says While the Cubs have indicated at various points since then that they expected Zobrist back this season, the final year of his contract, there has been no concrete timetable for his return. Team president Theo Epstein said on 670 The Score Friday that the team will give Zobrist plenty of time to ensure he’s ready. “We’re expecting this to take most of if not all of August,” Epstein said. “He’s been working out. He’s been performing baseball activities on his way, but he’s obviously got to see a lot of live pitching. We’ll see how it goes. He’s going to start with three games in South Bend and then take a few days off, (so as) not to do too much too soon and then reassess. I think it’s safe to say there will be a number of spots at a number of different affiliates and certainly there will be some Triple-A time before he ultimately comes up here.”Zobrist was the MVP of the 2016 World Series in his first year after coming over from the Royals, where he also won a title in 2015. He previously played for Cubs manager Joe Maddon in Tampa Bay, where he made his major league debut in 2006. Maddon will take all the help he can get at this point as the Cubs’ postseason hopes hang in the balance. Chicago slipped behind St. Louis in the NL Central with an 8-0 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday, recording only one hit in the process. That came from Nicholas Castellanos, the Cubs’ marquee acquisition at the trade deadline. He and fellow newcomer Tony Kemp both got starts Thursday, but Maddon indicated he’ll be playing the hot hand with his lineups the rest of the way.  “We just have to put out there what we consider to be the right thing to do,” Maddon said before the game, via ESPN. “I can’t be as aware, in a sense, as I was last year, in giving guys plate appearances and at-bats, developmentally speaking. We have two months to put our best foot forward. I will move guys in and out, but I don’t feel as compelled to do it as I felt last year.”It’s big boy time.”Zobrist had an anemic .596 OPS through 26 games when he stepped away from the team, but he has come up huge in pressure situations before. It looks like he’ll have a chance to do so one more time.center_img The 38-year-old utilityman is set to DH for South Bend on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported, but is not expected to address the media. Zobrist last played on May 6 and went on the restricted list two days later. The following week, he and his wife of more than 13 years, Julianna, separately filed for divorce — Julianna in Illinois and Ben in Tennessee, their offseason home.
