Lloyd Roberts, called “Robbie, the ex-Policeman who was charged for killing Ryan Sergeant — shot outside of the Rio Night Club in Queenstown, Georgetown in September of last year — has been freed of the charge.Ryan SergeantThe 36-year-old Roberts of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown was discharged on Friday by City Magistrate Judy Latchman.In delivering her decision, Magistrate Latchman told the Court that the evidence presented by the Prosecution, which included a video, did not implicate Roberts or in any way showed that he had shot and killed Sergeant.Nineteen-year-old Sergeant, of Festival City, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, had been shot once to his head, and was reportedly picked up and dumped in front of the Woodlands Hospital, Georgetown. He was later pronounced dead.According to reports, Sergeant, Roberts and others were inside the night club when an argument erupted. They were all thrown out of the club by security, but the argument was taken to the road, where it escalated.The men started to fire shots at each other, and Sergeant, who was not involved in the argument, was shot while attempting to seek cover.The Police subsequently arrested Roberts and others after CCTV footage from the club showed him as one those involved in the argument. He was arrested in January of 2017 in a house at John Street, Campbellville Georgetown. An AK-47 rifle and a 9mm pistol, together with 80 live rounds of ammunition and several cellular phones, were found in the house.Roberts was, in 2010, freed of the murders of Romeo DeAgrella and his son Clint DeAgrella, who died from multiple gunshot wounds in an incident that occurred at Iron Punt, North West District.
